I found the solution: in this version of the documentation (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/media/Microphone.html) it says you need to pass a value of &quot;-1&quot; to the getMicrophone() call to get the one you&#039;ve chosen. I guess it defaults to 0 which is the first device in the microphone array. So if you call &quot;Microphone.getMicrophone(-1);&quot; I think you&#039;ll get the result you&#039;re looking for.
